Sports Fundraiser for Pakistan Floods Appeal

Years 1 and 2 had great fun today taking part in a sports fundraiser for the Pakistan floods appeal.

Each child brought in a pound towards the appeal to take part on our amazing obstacle course which involved lots of jumps, slides, twists, turns and lots more!
Please see the photos above to see the fun that we had.

Thank-you to all the parents for their support with this event.

Settling in

We had a busy second week in Year 2!

In Numeracy we have been learning how to use a hundred square to add and subtract numbers. We also learnt about partitioning which means splitting the number into tens and units.

In Literacy we have been learning about full stops and capital letters and where to use them. We also learnt about what a connective was and why we should use them in our writing.

In History we have been learning about The Great Fire of London and in Science we have been learning about Electrcity - electrical components and circuits.

Homework went out today - History project on The Great Fire of London and spellings. A reminder that homework is due in Wednesday and our spelling test is on Friday morning.

Have a good weekend,

A Great Start!

All the children have settled back to school really well and have been working hard and getting used to the new routines.

This week in Literacy we have been looking at a book called 'The Shopping Basket. We have been ordering the story, acting it out and thinking about the characters. We reminded ourselves that we need to use a full stop, capital letter and finger spaces in a sentence. We are learning about using connecting words, such as 'and' and 'because' to make our sentences longer.

In Numeracy we have been learning how to use a 100 square to add and take away. Our Numeracy target this term is 'To be able to add and subtract to 10'

Please come along to our class talk on Thursday at 8.30am. This will be a chance to find out more about the 'wonderful world!' of Year 2 and how you can support your child during this important year.

Have a nice weekend, see you all Monday.
