Half term is here!

This week in Numeracy we were learning about measuring. We thought about the best measuring instrument to use for what we wanted to measure. We also learnt about how to measure accurately.

In Literacy we have been planning and writing our own stories.

We have finished all our assessments now and have done really well! We are now beginning to look at some of the work that we will be doing in Year 3!

Have a great half term and see you back refreshed on Monday 7th June!

D+T - Model Making

This week we had great fun using paint, cardboard boxes and all things messy to create London and the isle of Struay (in Scotland) We have been learning about how London is different to Struay and looked at a birds eye view map of the two places. Then we designed out models and created them. We found out that there is lots more open space in Struay and lots more trees and rivers there, than in London. We saw that there is not as much green space in London and that the buildings are often packed closely together.

Next week please remember we have Walk to school week so please try hard to walk each day or if you can't walk all the day please park a little way away and walk from there. Children who walk everyday of walk to school week will receive a special badge!

Have a good weekend, see you Monday,

A visit to the seaside in the 1950's!

This week in Year 2 Terry from the Drama centre came in to deliver a workshop based on the seaside now and then. We enjoyed finding out about how the seaside was different from today and taking part in the 'Knobbly knees' and 'Mr Muscle' and 'Miss Beauty' competitions! We also enjoyed pretending to be rollercoasters and making ourselves into sand sculptures. We are looking forwarding to visiting the beach for real when we visit the Sealife centre in June. Please take a look at the video of our workshop above and make sure you have your sound turned up!
