Masks!
In Numeracy we have been learning about Data Handling and how to create and use tally charts, blockcharts and barcharts.
In Literacy we have been looking at the famous author Roald Dahl. We looked at the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and thought about the character of Charlie.
In Art we designed and created our own masks. You can see our masterpieces in the photo above!
Homework (due in Wednesday please) is to complete the story below;
There once lived a boy called Tom. Tom had dark brown hair and big green eyes. He was the same as any other six year old. He loved to run about and play all day. His favourite game was hide and seek which he played in the big, green field at the bottom of his garden. The field went on for miles and miles and Tom could quite happily spend all day there. Each day as soon as he got home from school he would quickly knock for all his friends and they would rush over to begin playing.
However when Tom woke up one day he had a strange feeling that something was wrong. He brushed his hair out of his eyes and quickly pulled back the long, grey curtains that covered his windows. Out of the corner of his eye he could see the bright sun reflecting off the wet grass on the field. But when he looked again he could see something odd. A small shadow was forming. The shadow was getting larger and larger and looked as if it was rushing towards him. Something was out there! He must find out what...

Fun at the seaside!
This week we have been doing some lovely writing all about the seaside! On Wednesday afternoon we made our very own seaside in the classroom and acted out some visits there. Then we wrote a diary entry about a visit to the seaside. Well done Year 2 - your writing has been amazing and you have been trying so hard to keep your work neat!
Please come along to our class talk on Tuesday after school to find out more about all the exciting things that we have planned for this term!
The blogs will soon be phased out and we will be using a new system of online communication called Fronter! Many schools are already using this excellent tool and i'm sure it will be very useful for Glade too.
Have a nice weekend,

Easter is here!
Easter is here and we say goodbye to our Explorers topic. What a lot we have all learnt this term! We have all been working really hard. Please find below details of the homework for the Easter period. During the Summer term we will be looking at the topic the 'Sensational Seaside' which explores the differences between seaside holidays now and in the past. We will be using the text Katie Morag to look at what an island is and exploring how where we live is different from where Katie Morag lives on the isle of Struay.
We are back to school on Tuesday 26th April at the usual time. Have a lovely Easter break everyone! Mr. Merchant

Easter is near!
This week in Numeracy we have been looking at Fractions. We learnt how to find fractions of numbers and fractions of shapes. We looked at a pizza and found out about how to cut it out halves and quarters. Some of us even had a go at adding some fractions together!
In Literacy we have been looking at Fairytales. We looked at what all Fairytales have in common with each other before looking at some modern alternatives of classic fairytales and seeing how they were different. We really enjoyed reading the story of the Three little wolves and the big bad pig. Mr Merchant's favourite part is when the pig tries to use a Pneumatic drill to get into the Pig's house!
In Science we looked at which exercise is best for us. We did 5 different exercises for the same amount of time and counted our breaths after each one. We found out that jumping on the spot was the best exercise for us because it made us use up more of our oxygen than the others. Next week is the last week before Easter.
We are looking forward to hearing the Easter story and eating all of those Easter eggs!
Mr. Merchant and 2M :-)
