Missing numbers and the theatre!

http://www.primaryresources.co.uk/online/missing.swf Click here for an excellent finding numbers game!

This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Rainbow theatre company who put on the play 'The three billy goat's gruff' for us to watch which we all really enjoyed.

In Numeracy we have been thinking about problem solving and how to solve missing number calculations. We had to think carefully about what the question was asking us and how we could use our numberline to help us.

In Literacy we have been thinking about how we can write excellent sentences, what we need to include in our writing and how we can make our writing interesting for the reader.

In Science we started our new topic on Health and Growth.

Next week some of us are taking part in a special Gymnastics competition so we have been practicing a lot and fingers crossed we will do really well on Tuesday!

Have a good weekend,

China Week

We really enjoyed China week this week. We enjoyed learning how to count to 10 in Chinese, aswell as finding out about Tangrams, special Chinese puzzles that we made into Chinese animals.

In Literacy we have been reading Non-fiction books about China and making up our own story books about our class animal - the dog. We thought carefully about how to write the beginning, middle and end of our story.

We have made lots of Chinese objects including Chinese money, Lucky envelopes and a Chinese dog using collage.

Have a great half term and see you on Monday 22nd Feb.

Get ready for China week!

This week we read a Chinese folk tale called 'The Dragon's tears.' We thought carefully about the storyline and made storyboards before re-telling it in our own words. We also thought carefully about our own opinions of the story, what we liked about it, what we didn't like and how we might change it.

In Numeracy we have been looking at Symmetry. We learnt that symmetry means the same on both sides and we practised creating symmetrical patterns with paint and finding and drawing lines of symmetry.

In P.E we did some Chinese dragon dancing ready for next week and we have also started our dog collage.

A reminder that parents are invited to the whole school Chinese exercise on Friday before school this week.

We look forward to seeing you on parents evening on Thursday,

Have a good weekend, Mr. Merchant and 2M
